The conventional definition of wine is "the naturally fermented juice of fresh grapes". It is probably more clearly defined by the pleasure and enjoyment it brings us. Beyond its pure sensory impact , it has had deep religious and medical significance over the centuries. This is true even today.
The very first evidence of winemaking dates back to 5000 B.C. to Soviet Georgia where remnants of the first cultivated wines were found. The art of winemaking has evolved over the centuries to the point where we now enjoy an enormous variety and selection of fine wine. |
